National Coalition for Food-Safe Schools

A Good Idea

Description

The National Coalition for Food-Safe Schools (NCFSS) is a group of organizations and government agencies that are all focused on reducing foodborne illness in the United States by improving food safety in schools. NCFSS focuses on improving food safety through information sharing, networking, and strategic planning of activities.

The NCFSS website contains detailed information for schools to evaluate their food safety policies and procedures, as well as guides to improving food safety for various constituents in the school environment. Materials were developed through literature reviews and an extensive multidisciplinary panel of experts whose goal was to identify risk factors of foodborne illness as well as strategies schools could use to prevent foodborne illness. All materials are free and available on the website for download.
